Sanhe Tile Kiln - A Pocket Travel Map of Dashu District
Since 2023, entrusted by the kiln owner, X-Basic Planning has been collaborating with Sanhe Tile Kiln on its transformation. Beyond creating new uses for bricks and tiles, we have broadened our focus to the wider Dashu region, seeking sustainable paths for the industry by merging traditional materials with local identity. Through the "Brick Exploration Journey" map, the team created a walking route linking 11 Dashu landmarks constructed with Sanhe bricks and tiles, demonstrating the diverse applications of traditional building materials through actual landscapes.
Designed by the X-Basic Planning team, the “Brick Exploration Journey” map uses a hand-drawn aesthetic to reflect the warmth of its subject: traditional brick and tile.
It highlights 11 local landmarks built with Sanhe bricks and tiles, each one being integral to the community’s daily rhythm.
